Caprica is cancelled

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Caprica is cancelled:

“The remaining first run episodes of Caprica – airing Tuesdays at 10/9c – will be removed from the schedule as of next Tuesday, November 2,” said the network in a statement. “These final five episodes of the season will be re-scheduled to air at a to be announced time in the first quarter of 2011, and will conclude the run of the series.”

When Syfy announced the new Battlestar Galactica prequel, many people suspected Caprica’s days were numbered. I just didn’t think the number would be this low.

Caprica mid season review

I really want to like Caprica. It has an interesting premise, good actors and some wonderful characters. But when they spend time on uninteresting characters who have storylines that don’t make sense, it makes it difficult to keep watching. My initial review of Spartacus was less than complementary, while I gave a tentative thumbs up to Caprica. Have my opinions changed after a few more episodes.

Caprica Review

Caprica, a prequel to Battle Star Galactica, made it’s preview on Syfy Channel last night. It appeared on DVD a few months ago in an unrated version, with the cleaned up version showing on Cable to start season 1. And since I never watched BSG (well this version, I did watch the original 70s version), I was unsure how difficult it would be to jump in. The good news was that it wasn’t too difficult, but I’m sure I’m missing some information on how it ties in BSG.
